TOP 5 HIGHLIGHTS OF E3 2019

Spoiler: Keanu Reeves’s appearance at Microsoft XBOX briefing was freaking awesome.

The future of Netflix: games and beyond

In the E3 Coliseum, representatives from Netflix, Bonus XP game studio, and the Jim Henson Company sat down to discuss the process of turning the shows into playable experiences.

Netflix also announced that it is going to work with developer Next Games to create a third mobile game based on its hit series Stranger Things. It will be a location-based game with role-playing game mechanics.

Meanwhile, the second game Stranger Things 3: The Game drops July 4, the same day the third season of the show premieres. It will be available on Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Xbox One.

CyberPunk 2077 x Keanu Reeves

Video game developer CD Projekt Red became the hugest hit of E3 2019 when Keanu Reeves appeared on stage during the XBOX briefing.

Keanu will have a major role in its upcoming RPG Cyberpunk 2077. When talking about his character at Microsoft presentation the actor definitely looked very excited. He barely could finish his speech, as the audience was too thrilled with the news and was applauding and screaming during his entire performance.

Reeves will star in the game as Johnny Silverhand. This character was a rock band frontman in the 90’s role-playing title, “Cyberpunk 2020.”

Being adored by nearly all folks on the Internet, Keanu is definitely the right celebrity to be integrated into the game.

Studio CD PROJEKT RED, a Polish video game developer famous for The Witcher game series, has clearly made a statement on the global gaming market with Cyberpunk 2077 release.

Microsoft: Project Scarlett & Project xCloud

Project Scarlett is a next-gen console from Xbox. E3 2019 revealed some new details about the upcoming launch: built around powerful new hardware from AMD, including their new Navi graphics architecture and a Zen 2 CPU, the Scarlett is designed to minimize (or completely eliminate) load times and get you into games as quickly as possible.

It will be four times more powerful than the current most powerful console on the planet, the Xbox One X, and it will have four times better performance than the current generation in terms of load times. It is the biggest generational leap in Microsoft’s console history.

Halo Infinite will be the launch title for Project Scarlett and the release is planned for Holiday 2020.

Another gamechanger presented by Microsoft is Project xCloud. The company shared its vision for the evolution of gaming: similar to music and movies, games should be available on-demand and accessible from any screen. Project xCloud is Microsoft’s game-streaming technology that will allow XBOX fend off the competitive threat from Google’s Stadia cloud gaming service.

Borderlands 3 hits at E3 2019

Despite all the buzz around other anticipated titles, the upcoming Borderlands 3 premiere gathered a lot of noise at E3 2019. After the 7-year period since the release of Borderlands 2, the award-winning series of shooter-looter games welcomes its fans to Borderlands 3.

The adventure starts on the familiar desert planet of Pandora from previous Borderlands games, but the journey doesn’t stop there. For the first time, you’ll be able to leave the Pandora system to discover new extraordinary worlds.

The developer, Gearbox Software, sees high interest from the fans: at Borderlands 3 booth at E3 gamers could play the game before its official release, which is planned for September 13. The new game will delight its fans with an unbelievable selection of over 1 billion guns, hand-inked graphics, and meaningful humor.

Elon Musk talks about the future of video games

A sensational conversation between the legendary game designer Todd Howard from Bethesda Game Studios and Elon Musk (Tesla, SpaceX, Neuralink, The Boring Company) was devoted to video games, cars, space, and everything in between.

Elon Musk revealed his strong connection with the gaming world: he says he spent quite a lot of time playing Fallout. At the age of 12 Musk programmed a simple video game, and at the beginning of his career SpaceX CEO worked for a gaming startup called Rocket Science.

Being a huge fan of video games, Elon keeps adding new game titles into Teslas. At the E3 panel, he announced that Bethesda’s Fallout Shelter will be available in Tesla cars. Why would you need a video game console if you have Tesla?

Gaming influencers take over the media landscape

Having started with publishing games reviews and gameplay videos on their Youtube channels, gaming influencers have now turned into a powerful media. Gaming opinion leaders, such as AngryJoe or ForceGaming, post videos covering E3 highlights and insights. Their high-quality content with timely commentary gathers huge audiences, taking over the traditional gaming media. Gaming conventions like E3 offer great opportunities for video games publishers and non-gaming brands to meet new gaming influencers or nurture influencer relationships with long-term partners.
